Somaliland: The House passes electoral Law

HARGEISA (SD) -The Somaliland House of Representatives rejected changes made by the House of Elders to the electoral law LR 91.

The House of Representatives voted to approve their initial proposed electoral law, expressing dissatisfaction with amendments introduced by the House of Elders, according to the parliament’s official Facebook page.

“A significant majority voted to approve the LR 91 Law as initially passed by the House, rejecting modifications made by the House of Elders. Out of the 71 members present, 69 voted in favor, 1 member abstained, and 0 members opposed. The Speaker did not cast a vote.”

The approved law will now be submitted to the outgoing President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, who currently do not have the authority to veto the law.
