Hargeisa December 16, 2022 (SD) – The president of Somaliland, whose illegal term in office ended last month, today urged the public to participate in the voter registration set to begin on the 28th.

Muse Bihi made the remarks at the opening ceremony of Somaliland’s football Champions league, adding the disputed election in Somaliland will take place after the voter registration ends.

The outgoing president also said the newly registered 10 political organizations and three national parties will participate in the elections.

However, Somaliland’s electoral commission says the only election they can legally hold is the delayed presidential election for the three national parties.

The month-long voter registration will begin in Somaliland on December 28, but the opposition and the government have yet to agree on which election to hold first, the presidential or the political organizations.
