Somali Parliament: Former NISA Chief, not an MP

Mogadishu December 16, 2022 (SD) – The Somali Parliament today denied news circulating in local media that Fahad Yasin, the former head of NISA, will be allowed to keep a contested parliamentary seat he had previously won.

The former government of Somalia suspended the election of Fahad Yassin after questioning the election process for the seat.

The office of the Speaker of the Parliament also said that it is investigating the fake document and will be prosecuted those found to be behind the act.

Fahad Yassin, who was once a powerful figure in Somalia’s politics, now lives outside the country on a self-imposed exile.
