In the latest effort to tighten travel restrictions to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, Somaliland announced the closure of its borders.
Somaliland health Minister, who’s also head of the national committee for Corona, stated that all borders, starting from tomorrow, will be temporarily blocked over this deadly virus, while it remains open for medical supplies and other necessary traffics.
Flights from abroad will not be cancelled but passengers have to meet 14 days of quarantine. They will pay all the charges during the quarantine period, according to the health minister.
Critics says government should ban Qat and flights of Ethiopian Airlines. Both opposition parties argued and mentioned government must take immediate action.
Somaliland didn’t record any case of Coronavirus but cases from neighbouring Ethiopia has been increasing by the day since declared its first case.
