Somaliland to receive Ethiopian Airlines or Ethiopia Telecom shares in exchange of a Port

ADDIS ABABA (SD) -The National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Ambassador Ridwan Hussein, has stated that Somaliland will receive a share from Ethiopian Airlines or Ethiopia Telecom. This comes as part of the agreement signed yesterday between the two sides in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

According to Ambassador Ridwan, Ethiopia and Somaliland will cooperate in various economic and developmental sectors. Ethiopia has taken the first step by allowing Somaliland to benefit economically from its Red Sea.

Ridwan, speaking to the media in Addis Ababa, explained that Ethiopia would support Somaliland in trade and investment in the maritime sector. Ethiopia has taken significant steps in utilizing its Red Sea to boost its economic activities.

The Prime Minister, upon signing the agreement in the capital of Ethiopia with the President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, wrote in his Twitter message, “All that can be said is thank you God.”

When he spoke about the signed agreement, President Muse stated that the agreement includes an integral part acknowledging that Ethiopia will officially recognize Somaliland in the future.

The Somali government, considering the agreement a violation of its territorial integrity, has summoned the Ethiopian ambassador for clarification.
