Burao (SD) – Somaliland’s Togdheer Governor Mohamed Diriye Hayd says any hotel’s license will be revoked if they they host music shows in the province.
The mayor of Burao, the regional capital of Togdher, Mohamed Murad, also threatened hotels in Burao that host events that feature music.
“It is unlikely that music will be played in Burao any night. We will use force against the owners of the hotels,” he said.
Togdheer Regional Security Committee has today in an statement announce the ban of live music at hotels in that city.
The mayor of Burao said that the order came from the religious leaders of Togdheer region.
Togdheer region is one of the regions where clerics have unchecked political power.
The announcement comes as recently, the Isha Burao Hotel and others hosted entertainment and music.
