Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland’s Vice President Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail Saylici and his wife are reportedly the latest officials to have tested positive to COVID-19 in the last few days.

Sources close to the Vice President’s office confirm confirmed that the vice president of Somaliland and his wife have been diagnosed with Covid-19 virus which has now infected few other government officials in recent weeks.

According to the sources, the vice president’s condition worsened last night but he is still being treated at his home.

Somaliland’s finance minister also recently announced that he tested positive to COVID-19, while on official visit to Addis Ababa.

The vice president’s office has not yet commented on Mr. Seylici’s health condition.

Vice President Saylici is chairman of the national prevention of the spread of Covid-19 commission, critics accuse the commission of not yet making any significant progress in raising funds at a time when the virus is on the rise.
