Hargeisa (SD) – The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail Saylici attended the opening ceremony of the National Electoral Commission for Voter Registration.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, officials of the three national parties, the Ambassador of the European Union, civil society organizations and other leaders.

Abdirashid Riyo-raac, chairman of the National Electoral Commission, said the registration would begin on time, noting that the registration would benefit those who had not already received a voter registration card.

He added that the Electoral Commission has set a timetable for voter registration which will begin on the 29th of this month.

The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail Saylici commended the Electoral Commission for the opening of the voter registration which is of great importance to the people of Somaliland.

The country’s vice president urged the people of Somaliland to take their voter registration cards for the upcoming elections.
