Somaliland welcomes the new relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Israel

Nairobi (SD) – Somaliland’s envoy to the Kenyan Bashe Omar Awil has said that Somaliland welcomes the new relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.

Ambassador Bashe said peace-loving Somaliland fully supports the agreement, which he described as historic.

“As peace-loving people, we support the historic and modest agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel that has been replaced by the consolidation at the table (suspending requests for independence in the West Bank). The agreement is a good example of the alliance between countries in the region that are interested in regional stability and co-operation,” said Bashe Omar, who also represented Somaliland at the United Arab Emirates.

Somaliland’s support for the UAE-Israel relationship is in line with previous support from Germany, Egypt, Ethiopia, Bahrain, Oman, the United Kingdom, France, and the United Nations.

Somaliland has in recent years developed a diplomatic and commercial ties with UAE.

The move is seen by many as bold, as Somaliland is been active lately on the diplomatic front, bolstering its quest for recognition.
