Gabiley (SD) – Demonstrators angry over preliminary results of local elections in Gabiley region has today completely stopped the flow of traffic between Gabiley and Hargeisa.
Protesters are reportedly angry over alleged vote rigging against their UCID candidate in Gabiley District.
Traffic between the western and eastern regions of Somaliland was blocked, as angry people set fire to the tarmac road.
On the other hand, Some of the candidates who expressed dissatisfaction the preliminary results of the Togdheer region’s House of Representatives and Constituencies have called for a recount.
Some Berbera City Council candidates have also expressed concern over the erroneous preliminary results of the Berbera City Council’s results.
Candidates dissatisfied with the results of the Sool regional assembly elections also said 9,000 votes had been rigged.
The counting of votes in the by-elections for Somaliland’s local councils and representatives is not yet complete, and the results have now been announced very close to the Kulmiye and Wadani parties.
