Mogadishu (SD) – The Speaker of the Somali Federal Parliament, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, has announced that he and the current parliamentarians will remain MP’s until a successors are elected.
Speaker Mohamed Mursal, chaired the 7th session of the 8th Parliament in which announced Parliament’s extension today.
Parliament also participated the 1st Reading of the 2021 Budget and the 2nd Reading of the Investment Promotion Agency.
During the 8th session, the Speaker reiterated that the 10th parliament, will remain in office until the 11th parliament is sworn in to replace them.
The current parliament tenure expires on December 27th, without electing a successor parliament, as elections have been delayed.
It is not yet clear when parliamentary elections will take place in the country, with the opposition demanding changes to the government appointed electoral commissions.
