MOGADISHU (SD)-A suicide bombing took place in Mogadishu shortly before the evening prayer, which caused casualties including death and injuries.
According to reports, the explosion took place in an area known as Al-Naciim located in Dharkenley district of Mogadishu.
Eyewitnesses say that a person riding a motorcycle rigged with explosives and traveling at high speed blew himself up in a place where government soldiers and civilians were gathered.
At least six people, including several soldiers, are reported to have been killed in the attack, with others sustaining injuries and being rushed to nearby hospitals.
Government security forces arrived at the scene following the explosion, where they cordoned off the area and launched investigations.
The Somali government security agencies have not yet commented on the incident, and there have been no claims of responsibility. However, such attacks, typically attributed to the militant group Al-Shabaab, have targeted government troops in the past.
