Talks between Farmajo and Roble hit a snag

Mogadishu (SD) – Mediation talks between President Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble has recently ended without an agreement, according to sources.

The talks were reportedly productive with President Farmajo initially entertaining an independent investigation into Ilhan Tahlil’s murder, but reportedly changed his mid.

President Farmajo at the end proposed to settle Ikran Tahlil’s case out of court.

Talks hit a serious snag over The PM’s appointments of NISA chief and the Security Minister, with Villa Somalia demanding re-appointing new officials to the roles.

PM Roble insisted that both NISA chief and the Security Minister appointees will stay in their current roles, forcing both camps leaving without an agreement.

The political rift between Farmajo and Role has had an impact on the country’s security situation as well as the 2021 election process.
