Mogadishu July 02, 2023 (SD) – The Commander of the Somali National Army, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin Addow, embarked today on his first official visit to Galgaduud region since assuming office in June of this year.

The Commander of the National Army and the unnamed American officials visited the frontlines, specifically reaching Galcad in Galgaduud region, where they were warmly received.

The Commander of the National Army also visited the frontline Bases of the Federal Government of Somalia forces and residents in the outskirts of Galcad, which had been under Al-Shabaab control for an extended period but has now been liberated.

During his visit to Galcad, the Commander of the National Army received briefings from the military officials stationed in the Galgaduud region, who provided updates on the ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab in the region.

Furthermore, Commander General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin, speaking on the site, highlighted the purpose of his visit and stressed the importance of coordination and information sharing.

Lastly, the Commander of the National Army directed the government forces stationed there to prepare for the second phase of operations against Al-Shabaab, intending to initiate significant advances in multiple regions of the country.
