Mogadishu July 02, 2023 (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, addressed the country on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of independence, unity, and the situation in the country, the aspirations of the Somali people in building a stable nation, highlighting the progress of the regions and districts.

The President also acknowledged the historical significance of the Somali people in achieving independence and unity, affirming the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to ending the divisions they have experienced.

President Hassan Sheikh expressed his gratitude to the cities of the country, particularly Las Anod, which honored for the first time in 15 years the day of independence and unity on July 1st.

“The cities that marked the celebration are numerous, including Las Anod. The entire country has celebrated the anniversary, but I must say that the people of Las Anod were the first to fully embrace the commemoration, and I congratulate them on their victory. We will settle down in the coming years and we will enjoy peace and prosperity. When I say this, I am not offending anyone with this news” stated the President in his speech.

The President also extended his call for Somali unity, emphasizing the importance of dialogue with Somaliland and urging for peaceful resolutions.
