ADDIS ABABA (SD) – The Ethiopian government news agency has announced that their forces killed Sheikh Fu’ad Mohamed Khalaf Shangole, a senior officer of the Al Shabaab fighters, in an attack yesterday.
The published news revealed that the Ethiopian forces killed Sheikh Fu’ad Shangole as well as Sheikh Abdiaziz Abu Musab, the spokesman of Al Shabaab forces.
An Ethiopian military officer named Major General Tesfaye Ayalew told the Ethiopian news agency that their army killed the two leaders of Al Shabaab and destroyed a cache of weapons belonging to Al Shabaab.
There are no other independent news sources that have confirmed that the Ethiopian forces killed Fu’ad Shangole and Abu Musab.
The Ethiopian military’s claim comes at a time when Abu Musab spoke to Al Shabaab owned media yesterday and declared victory in their attacks in Aato.
Abu Musab said that they killed 103 soldiers of the Liyu Police and the Ethiopian military in the clashes that took place yesterday in Aato area of Bakool region.
