MOGADISHU (SD) – The World Bank has today approved nearly $100 million dollars, intended to boost the budget of the Federal Government of Somalia.
Approving the budget subsidy of the federal government of Somalia came after the government reportedly implemented financial reforms and good governance.
The Minister of Finance of the Somali government Mr. Abdirahman Duale Bayle welcomed the approval of the subsidy added to the federal government budget, and thanked the World Bank.
“We are grateful to the World Bank for approving nearly $100 million in government budget support, after the Federal Government of Somalia met all the terms of the agreement, including financial reform and good governance,” said Minister Bayle.
Despite the world bank approval, Somalia’s new Parliament recently asked the Minister of Finance tough and unanswered questions about the country’s budget process during the 5 years he was in office.
The Minister of Finance of the former government of Somalia told the parliament that he presented the budget audit to the parliament during his tenure, but the parliament dismissed the claim.
