MOGADISHU (SD) – The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, MP Ali Yusuf (Ali Hosh), and other officials met tonight in Dhusamareb with some of the traditional elders from the Galmudug regions.
Minister Ali Hosh informed the elders that the federal government of Somalia has prepared the laws and procedures for one-person-one-vote elections. He emphasized that, with the cooperation of the federal member states, the power of governance would be democratically returned to the Somali people, who will elect their leaders.
“We have prepared and passed all the foundational laws necessary for conducting one-person-one-vote elections in the country. These include the Law for Establishing the Federal Member States, the Law for Political Parties and Associations, and the National Elections Law. Additionally, the Federal Government of Somalia has established the Independent National Electoral Commission and Boundary Commission, providing them with all necessary operational resources,” said the Minister of Interior of Somalia during the meeting.
On their part, the traditional elders from the Galmudug regions expressed their readiness for the country to hold one-person-one-vote elections, allowing the Somali people to elect their leaders.
