Badhan (SD) – A delegation led by the Speaker of the Puntland House of Representatives Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril from Garowe were welcomed in Badhan town in Sanaag region today.

The delegation was welcomed in Badhan district by the regional administration, the district administration, military officials and various sections of the community.

The Speaker of the Puntland Parliament is accompanied by the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Security, the Commanders of the Darawish Forces and the Police, and members of the House of Representatives.

The governor and his delegation stopped in Armo district in Bari region and visited the wounded soldiers of the Darawish forces in Sanaag region whose truck overturned on the road between Badhan and Eldahir.

The Puntland delegation that arrived in Badhan, including the Armed Forces Reform Committee, and will attend a closing ceremony for recently trained soldiers, as well as monitoring the situation in the Sanaag region.

The visit also coincides with Somaliland’s recent voter registration program in the region.

Puntland and Somaliland had fought over the control of the region for years now, and the Speaker’s visit could escalate tensions in the region.
