Hargeisa (SD) – The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today received at his office the British Ambassador to Somalia, Amb. Ben Fender accompanied by Stuart Brown, Head of the British Office in Somaliland.
The meeting focused on general issues such as Somaliland’s upcoming parliamentary and local elections on 31/05/2021, recently announced by the National Electoral Commission, with an agreement from the three national parties and submitted to the Somaliland Senate for final decision.
The meeting also discussed the UK’s support for Somaliland in terms of social development projects, as well as the current security situation in the Horn of Africa.
The president of Somaliland thanked the ambassador for the time they have worked together, as today was the ambassador’s last day in office. The President thanked the British Government for harmonizing the pillars of the Somaliland Development Plan with British aid to the Somaliland.
For his part, the Ambassador thanked the President and the people of Somaliland for their dedicated work during his tenure.
