Washington March 30, 2023 (SD) – According to U.S. State Department, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, has appointed Richard H. Riley as the new ambassador to Somalia.
The new ambassador to Somalia is currently serving as the Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs at the US Department of State, particularly at the US Embassy in Canada.
Previously, Richard H. Riley has served in various diplomatic roles in countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, UK, China, Russia, and Yemen. He has now been replaced by Larry Andre as the new US ambassador to Somalia.
According to the official letter from the State Department, when confirmed by the Senate, Ambassador Richard H. Riley will replace the current ambassador, Larry André Jr., as the US Ambassador to Somalia.
