Burao (SD) – An official in the government of President Muse Bihi has resigned after he could not stand the level of Covid-19 spread in Somaliland.

Somaliland Ministry of Health coordinator for Togdher region Dr. Adan Casayr has resigned from his post.

Dr. Aden Casayr’s resignation was reportedly prompted by the situation of Covid-19 in Somaliland, particularly in Burao, the capital of Togdher region, adding he did not want to be blamed the lack of response to the resurgence of the virus.

The coordinator added he did not want to have the devastation in Burao to be on his conscience.

Ministry of health is yet to respond to the dire situation in Burao and the resignation of their coordinator in Togdher.

In Somaliland, particularly in Togdher, large numbers of people have died of the disease in recent weeks, and so far no concrete steps have been taken by the government.
