Ankara (SD) – The Turkish government has pledged its support to Somalia following video conference on Wednesday discussing COVID-19 impacts.
During a video conference organized by African Union to help the Horn of Africa nation, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said his country will stand by Somalia.
“Steps will be taken together to support political transition and peace processes in the aftermath of COVID19, we will always stand by our friendly brothers in Somalia,” Cavusoglu said on Twitter.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also send its Condolences to the families who tragically lost their lives to the heavy flooding in the city of Qardho District of Puntland in Somalia.
Since last March when the first case was confirmed in the country, Somalia has been struggling to contain the spread of Coronavirus due to its weak health system as the country records 582 positive cases and 32 death.
