U.S. Drone attack kills Al Shabaab cofounder

Mogadishu (SD) – The Federal Government of Somalia and the US forces in Africa, AFRICOM, confirmed an attack killed Abdullahi Nadir, one of the top Al Shabaab official.

According to separate statement issued by the Ministry of Information of Somalia and AFRICOM, Abdullahi Nadir, a cofounder of Al-Shabaab, was killed in a planned operation that took place on 01-10-2022 in the Haram area of the Middle Jubba region.

Abdillahi Nadir better known Abdullahi Yare, who had $3 million bounty on his head.

The airstrike that killed Abdullahi Nadir targeted a car carrying several people, including the son of Hassan Dahir Aweys named Ibrahim who was also killed.

Somali Government described his death of the Al Shabaab leader as “a thorn removed from Somali people”.

The killing comes as the Somali Government alongside local militias have stepped up attacks against the Al-Qaida affiliated militants.
