UAE Delivers Second Batch of Aid to Somalia

MOGADISHU- Today, The United Arab Emirates (UAE), has delivered food aid to drought-affected families in Somalia.

This is the second donation from the UAE government to Mogadishu in 2022.

On the 7th of January this year, the UAE handed over a large amount of food assistance to the Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble.

Government officials welcomed the donation delegation at the airport, including Somalia’s Minister of Relief and Disaster Khadija Mohamud Diriye, who thanked the UAE for the assistance.

The UAE Ambassador also spoke to the media and said that the donation was intended to help the humanitarian situation in Somalia.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said it will increase its humanitarian assistance to Somalia, as relations between the two countries are improving.

During a recent visit, Roble discussed with the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Society and the UAE’s humanitarian agencies the need to provide urgent emergency support to the drought-stricken Somali population.

During his stay in the country, Prime Minister Roble apologized for the freezing of nearly $10 million in Emirati currency at Aden Adde International Airport.
