HARGEISA (SD) – Chairman of the Opposition Party UCID Eng. Faysal Ali Warabe, accuses the President of Somaliland Muse Bihi of completely dismantling the country’s democratic system and preparing for a civil war, again.
The chairman of UCID accused the president of Somaliland of being behind the civil war in Somaliland in 1994 and today is once again preparing for a civil war, calling the public to be aware.
“It is clear today that President Muse is determined not hold elections and wants to extend his term by any means necessary. Said the Chairman at a presser in Hargeisa. Adding “Muse and his cohorts were responsible in what happened in Somaliland in 1994, and they are at it again”
The chairman of the UCID party said that the opposition is preparing for peaceful demonstrations to save the country.
“The protests are in the final stages of preparation and we will hold a peaceful one. we will be making it clear we do not want a dictator, we don’t want a repeat of 1994” said Faisal Ali.
Opposition parties in Somaliland have stated, as per the constitution that the November 13, 2022 presidential election should be held first, followed by the registrations of the political associations in December.
The Somaliland government is pushing for a postponement of the presidential election and is insisting in registering new parties.
