MOGADISHU (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today paid a working visit to the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Mogadishu.

The President inspected the offices of the various headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, and listened to reports from the leadership of the Armed Forces.

The President spoke to some Somali officials and troops on the frontlines in the fight against Al-Shabaab, hailing the selfless sacrifices they have made day and night in defense of their people and their country, he also shared with the troops the government’s commitment to ensuring the overall security of the country.

The president told the officials that new operations against Al Shabaab will be launched soon and instructed the Somali National Army to be prepared for those operations.

This is President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud first visit to the Ministry of Defense following his election, monitored the situation in the Armed Forces and expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring security in the country.
