UCID Electoral Commission Member Resigns

HARGEISA (SD) – Abdifatah Ibrahim Hassan, a member of the Somaliland Electoral Commission from UCID, has resigned recently.

UCID Opposition Information Secretary Yusuf Kayse Abdillahi confirmed that a member of his party has resigned from the Electoral Commission.

The secretary did not say why he had resigned, but said they had prepared a party member to fill his place as a member of the Electoral Commission.

UCID party has selected Ibrahim Adam Ali (Ibrahim Moalim) as a member of the National Electoral Commission, following the resignation of Abdifatah Ibrahim Sheikh.

The party presented the new member to the President today.

Abdifatah has been a member of various electoral commissions for the last 13 years, representing the opposition UCID party.

Abdifatah has not yet commented on as to why he resigned, but his decision comes at a time of political turmoil in the country.
