NY (SD) -The UN Security Council has overwhelmingly approved a resolution to replace the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) with a temporary mission named the United Nations Temporary Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS). The transition process is set to begin on November 1, 2024.
All 15 members of the Security Council approved this resolution.
“The UN Security Council unanimously approved a resolution to replace the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) with the United Nations Temporary Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS). The transition process between the two missions will commence on November 1, 2024, which falls on the upcoming Saturday,” said the UN Security Council.
