UN, Turkey condemn al-Shabaab attack on Mogadishu restaurant

MOGADISHU (SD) – The United Nations (UN) and Turkish have separately condemned the deadly attack on a restaurant in Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Al-Shabaab suicide bomber who was driving riding a tricycle packed with explosives drove into Lul-yemeni restaurant.

The attack killed more than twenty people and injured over 30 others, according to the Aamini Ambulance.

In a statement, UN wished quick recoveries for those injured in the bombing.

“The UN in Somalia strongly condemns the vicious al-shabaab attack on 5 march in Mogadishu, extends condolences and solidarity to the families of those who lost their lives, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured,”UNSOM said in a tweet.

In a separate statement, Turkish foreign ministry condoled with families of those killed in the attack.

“We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist attack. We offer our condolences to the brotherly Somali people and the government, we wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the wounded,” said a statement by the Foreign Ministry.

Al-Shabaab militant group has claimed the responsibility for the attack on the restaurant which is not far from Mogadishu port.

The group also the same restaurant last October, killing more ten people.
