Djibouti (SD) – The long awaited presidential election campaign has started in Djibouti today.
President Guelleh, who is running for a fifth term, speaking to supporters said he does not want power but is being forced by his people.
President Guelleh told crowd of supporters “I want to complete the work you told me to finish”
Most opposition parties in Djibouti, just as last few elections boycotted this election, saying President Guelleh does not want a free and fair election.
His Nephew is the only politician running against President Ismail Omar Guelleh, who has ruled the country for 22 years.
Zakariye Ismail Farah, is the candidate running against President Guelleh. Critics of the current president believe that the unknown candidate is not for real and that he is in it to legitimize the process, he has denied the accusation.
