US arrests Somalis planning to join Islamic State

Arizone(SD)-The US Department of Justice says two Somali men have been arrested for allegedly providing material and financial support to ISIS, the group IS branded a foreign terrorist organization by the US.

Ahmed Mahad Mohamed, 21, and Abdi Yemeni Hussein, 20, were arrested July 26 in Arizona.

According to the criminal complaint, the defendants had links to anonymous(informants) FBI agents, whom they believed were in support of the group’s ideology.

The relationship between the two Somalis and an FBI agent has revealed that they intend to travel abroad to fight against the Daesh, or carry out attacks inside the United States, if they are unable to travel

The US Department of Justice says the charges against the two men are still allegations, and that they are innocent until proven otherwise in court.
