Mogadishu July 17, 2023 (SD) – The United States government has expressed its support for the meeting held in Mogadishu between senior officials of the Federal Government of Somalia and former leaders.

The meeting aimed to bring together Somali leaders to foster dialogue, discuss the nation’s future, convened by President Hassan Sheikh.

The United States government is among the major supporters of Somalia, and the Somali government has partnered with them in the fight against Al-Shabaab through the specialized DANAB forces conducting targeted military operations against Al-Shabaab hideouts.

Recently, in Mogadishu, a meeting took place between the top officials of the Federal Government of Somalia and former leaders who opposed certain provisions previously put forth by the National Consultative Council. Six points concerning the situation in Somalia were discussed and presented during the meeting.
