Mogadishu July 16, 2023 (SD) – The Somali National Army conducted a major operation targeting Al-Shabaab in the towns of Galcad and Bud-bud in Galgaduud region.

The operation resulted in the elimination of several militants, with a significant engagement taking place in the Gariyaale area.

Military officials confirmed to the media that the operation led to the killing of 18 Al-Shabaab fighters, including high-ranking commanders.

The captured militants, weapons and equipment, as well as valuable intelligence, were showcased to the public through the government’s official Telegram channel.

According to a Government run media, the operation inflicted substantial damage on Al-Shabaab positions and disrupted their plans, according to statements from the Somali National Army.
