Washington (SD) – The US State department has expressed full support for Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble’s efforts to resume elections dialogue in Somalia.
The United States has called on the country’s political leaders to seize the opportunity to reach an agreement.
The statement also sent a message of support by the US Government to Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, who is leading the talks.
“Somali leaders must seize this opportunity to conclude a free and fair election agreement for their people and country. Prime Minister Roble has our full support.” the statement said.
HirShabelle President Ali Gudlawe is expected to arrive on today, with reports that the conference will officially open on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
The conference is being chaired by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, with the Somalia’s outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo attending, he has been blamed for the conference’s previous failure.
