Villa Somalia lashes out at LeadNow

Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali presidency has responded to a press release from the Somali Women’s organization LeadNow! on the collapse of the election talks in Mogadishu.

LeadNow! is a civil society organization, working to increase women’s participation in politics.

LeadNow’s recent press release expressed strong concern about the overall situation in the country, especially the controversy over the ongoing election process talks among the country’s leaders.

“LeadNow regrets that no political agreement has been reached so far, with the term of the Heads of the Federal Government coming to an end.” Said the organization’s statement.

Adding “We call on the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to return to the discussions on achieving inclusive elections. The president is the supreme leader of the nation, and it is his responsibility to hold elections in the country and to avoid anything that could harm the unity of the country and the people. ”

Somali presidential director Abdirashid Mohamed Hashi then tweeted at LeadNow responding to their statement.

“Your suggestion that President Farmajo is sidelining the election talks is unfounded and twisted. Somalia is awake. ” Mr. Hashi Tweeted.

Nowhere in LeadNow statement did it mention that Farmajo is sidelining the election talks, leading many to question Abdirashid tweet.
