DJABOUTI (SD) – A cargo ship that sailed from the port of Djibouti was attacked in the waters of Yemen, while the ship was on its way to the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
Yemeni Houthi rebels have reportedly fired three missiles at the ship bound for Jeddah, with one of the missiles reportedly hitting the vessel and causing damage.
The British maritime security firm involved in the incident stated that the ship was attacked with three missiles, resulting in significant damage.
The attacked vessel flew the flag of Malta, and responsibility for the attack was squarely attributed to the Houthi rebels operating in Yemen.
The rebels have been actively targeting commercial vessels using the Red Sea, with several incidents of attacks reported, some resulting in casualties.
