Dhusamareb (SD) – The senior leadership of Ahlu Sunna, has rejected the requirement that the Galmudug election committee has set out in the selection of the new Galmudug state parliamentarians.

The leadership of the Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a said that the requirements of the Galmudug Election Committee did not apply to their 20-members in the new Galmudug parliament, as Ahlu Sunna does not recognize and has no representation in the Committee.

Ahlu Sunna also said that the agreement reached with the Federal Government of Somalia under the auspices of Prime Minister Khayre, has been carried out on their part.

They also called on the Somali Federal Government to respect the bilateral agreement and to put it into effect.

The Somali government, which selected the Galmudug state technical committee, has not yet commented on the recent decision by Ahlu Sunna which is against their lawmakers having to meet the requirements of the Galmudug parliament.
