Marka(SD)-At least twenty Somali government soldiers have been killed and others injured after al-Shabaab militants attacked a base in the Lower Shabelle region.

The base attacked, El-Salini, is located near Marka, the center of the Lower Shabelle region.

A senior security official, Adow Moalim Mohamed, confirmed the death of the soldiers and injured, after he told the news agencies via telephone.

Reports indicate that al-Shabaab took control of the base of the attack, and posted on their website that they were responsible for the attack.

But Since then, the Somalia armed forces have confirmed through the local media, that they have recaptured their bases in Marka.
