Mogadishu(SD)-The Somali National Army and the Union of African Union in an airstrike killed militants aligned with terror group Al-Shabaab.

The shelling occurred at the southern outskirts of Awdheegle district, and was ordered when the forces got tip off that Al-Shabaab militant group has assembled in the area to carry out terrorist attacks in the region.

The Somalia National Army confirmed the killing of 20 militants and also the deputy head of Al-Shabaab rebel Hassan Abshir Jibril (Hassan Jirow).

Deputy Jirow has led several of the al-Shabaab attacks in the area including Janaale and Barre in Lower Shabelle regions.
