Al Shabab Targets David Swan at a Mogadishu blast

Mogadishu July 24,2019(SD)-At least 10 people have been killed and more than 30 others injured in a suicide bombing at a compound in Banadir region, al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility.

The explosion occurred during a meeting addressing security in the capital, which is held once a week, some of the administration and the regional governors of the Hamar died, while others were injured.

Among those killed were the former spokesman for the Benadir regional administration, director of the sanitation department in Banadir region, Abdi Fatah Omar Halane, and the director of the Benadir regional administration and staff, Abdullahi Dhere.

Also the dead included were the Waberi district commissioner Mahad Elmi Ali and the governor of Abdul-Aziz, Sofia Abdullahi Asad, who died of severe injuries.

The explosion, which was planned, resulted in several injuries including the governor of Banadir region who also is the Mogadishu Mayor Abdirahman Omar Osman. Yarisow, whose injuries are said to be serious and he is being treated at Digfeer hospital in Mogadishu.

There are other numerous injuries to other Mogadishu districts leaders and staff.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for today’s bombing at the Benadir regional administration headquarters, in a statement it said was aimed at UN envoy to Somalia James Swan, who visited the headquarters of Banadir region today.
