Kismayo July 24,2018(SD)-The Independent Electoral Commission of Jubbaland has announced the list of traditional elders to select members of the Jubbaland state parliament. 

The elders selecting the newly announced Jubbaland parliamentarians are 135 elders, representing all clans of the Jubbaland people, and the elders are expected to select the members of the Jubbaland parliament who will elect the new president.

The Jubbaland regional administration has a number of candidates, one of whom was killed in a recent attack by al-Shabaab in Kismayo.

Jubbaland’s presidential candidates include Ahmed Madobe, the current president of Jubbaland, and each candidate is striving to be elected president of the Jubbaland state.
