Galkayo (SD) – An armed group attacked a military base in northern Galkayo on Wednesday evening, using grenades and automatic rifles.

The attack, which lasted for a few minutes, reportedly injured Puntland police officers and civilians in the area.

Al-Shabaab has been conducting a series of assassinations targeting Puntland authorities in recent days in Galkayo, and it’s not clear if they are behind the latest attack.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, security forces have blocked the streets, and security has been tightened in military camps in northern Galkayo.
