Hargeisa (SD) – Chairman of the Somaliland Civil Service Agency Farhan Haibe said that Somaliland government employees are prohibited in assisting individuals on social media.

The chairman’s comment comes at a time there is a fierce political campaign within Kulmiye’s old guard regarding the party’s leadership recently.

Farhan Adan Haibe, chairman of the Somaliland civil service agency, said that there is a government policy on the the issue, and that serious disciplinary action will be taken against anyone promoting any individual politically on social media.

The chairman made the remarks at Ministry of Religious affairs annual awards ceremony.

Political insiders and social media advocates believe the restrictions are regressive and anti freedom of political association.
