Independent media denied access to Somalia Parliament

Mogadishu(SD)-The 6th Session of the Federal Parliament of the Federal Government of Somalia opens today in Mogadishu.

The agenda for today’s meeting is a Speech by the Speaker of the House and the 1st reading of the Cultural Heritage Convention.

The Independent Media previously broadcasted the sessions of the Federal Parliament of the Federal Government of Somalia, but an statement from the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdiweli Sheikh Ibrahim Mudey, said the media was not to broadcast the meetings of the House of the People.

Some reports indicate that the reason behind the barring of journalists to report to Parliament is because Parliamentarians from now on will be seated at the Villa Hargeisa headquarters in the Somali Presidential Palace.

The Somali presidential palace has already denied access to the independent media, and instead sends the news clips edited by the government.
