Hargeisa(SD)-The Kenyan government sent a delegation of Kenyan diplomats to Hargeisa last week, the three-member diplomat delegation flew left Hargeisa on Friday.
There were no reports from Kenya and Somaliland on this delegation, but reports from the Horn of Africa newspaper confirmed that the purpose of the trip was to open a consulate in Hargeisa.
The Kenyan delegation explored the ideal space for consulate. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland welcomed the delegation.
The Somaliland government, which the Horn of Africa newspaper has tried to ask for the purpose of this delegation’s trip, declined to comment, but Kenyans held talks with officials from the Somaliland foreign ministry.
The Kenyan government had earlier said it would open a consulate in Hargeisa, but this is the first time that Nairobi has sent a delegation to monitor and prepare the Kenyan consulate in Hargeisa.
Various countries have consulates and representatives in the Somaliland’s capital of Hargeisa, including Ethiopia, Djibouti, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
