Djibouti(SD)-Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi while on a formal trip to Djibouti met the president of that country Ismail Omer Guelleh.
The two presidents did not have the expected press conference together after their meeting, but rather gave separate briefings on their meeting.
President Guelleh, on his social media accounts on twitter and Facebook was published on the issues discussed with President Bihi.
“The President of the Republic, HE Ismail Omar Guelleh, met with the President of Somaliland, HE Moussa Bixi Abdi at the presidential palace, The two leaders discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including cooperation between the Republic of Djibouti and Somaliland, especially in the areas of economic, media and trade relations, The meeting was also attended by the Djibouti and Somaliland co-operation activities, such as the new Djibouti-Somaliland road which is almost completed.” read the statement from President Guelleh.
President Muse Bihi Abdi, who also spoke about his visit said “I want to thank the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh and his government for welcoming us to our brotherly country the Republic of Djibouti on which we are here on a official visit, We have discussed collaborating on economic development, trade, transportation, the two-brother community and strengthening security across the Horn of Africa.”
Insiders claim that there is a second agenda for the meeting which followed a similar visit od President Farmajo.
The international community have recently asked President Guelleh to jump start the stalled Somalia and Somaliland talks.
The meetings come at time that Somalia and Somaliland are experiencing a fierce diplomatic raw.
