Raptors Toronto basketball president Masai Ujiri trains 50 girls in Mogadishu

Mogadishu(SD)-Former popular basketball player and current president of the Toronto Raptors’ defending NBA championship team, Masai Ujiri, along with his team of coaches, arrived in Mogadishu on Thursday to train Somali girls playing basketball.

Ujiri, who is on a tour of Africa, led by coaches from The Rafit of the team, is training 50 girls under the control of the Elman Peace Center.

“There is so much joy, laughter and genuine encouragement today among these girls who are trained to be good,” said Somali Canadian Ilwad Elman.

The delegation donated training materials to the Elman Peace Center as part of their support for the future development of Somali basketball.

The Elman Peace Center shows the world a lot of untold stories that show that there is hope and a bright future for young people.
