Somali Foreign Minister orders diplomatic passport for a Puntland representative

Mogadishu (SD) -Somali foreign minister Ahmed Essa Awed ordered a diplomatic passport to be renewed for Puntland Governments representative in Kenya.

The Minister is asking the Somali immigration authorities to renew their diplomatic passport for the ‘Puntland Government Representative’ in Kenya.

Puntland is a Local State in Somalia’s Federal Government and its employees should not be addressed as a Government diplomat.

Its not clear what the Ministers reasoning is based on requesting the extension on documents and why those employees had the passports in the first place.

Ironically, the minister’s statement comes as he is in Garowe to attend the Puntland consultations on how to deal with the Federal Government.
