Somali government, international community step up fight against al-Shabaab

Mogadishu(SD)-The Somali government has said that there are ongoing planning to increase its war against Al-Shabaab and that they’re in consultations with regional governments about it’s plans.

The announcement came at a meeting between Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre, regional leaders and members of the international community, especially stakeholders.

Minister of Defense Hassan Ali said they’ve discussed how the members of the international community can strongly support the Somali armed forces.

He also said that leaders including Prime Minister Kheyre and the representatives of the international community have agreed to increase the fight against al-Shabaab and to conduct operations in areas controlled by the group.

Although the federal government is fighting with Al-Shabab, al-Shabab have increased their attacks on police stations, government forces and African Union Mission in Somalia, especially in the areas of the two Shabelle regions, were last week Al Shabab  killed 12 AMISOM soldiers.
